Seeburg Model L coin piano

This “nickelodeon” came out of Chicago during the “Roaring Twenties”. Located in Chicago, J. P. Seeburg Piano Company was the largest maker of American coin pianos and orchestrions. First introduced in 1921, the model L was the smallest coin piano made by Seeburg. Advertised as the "Liliputian ... the little piano for the little amusement place," it quickly became Seeburg's bestseller during the Prohibition years, largely due to its size and ability to fit into the smallest of speakeasies, and other illegal liquor establishments.

This instrument was made in 1925. It operates from a standard "A" type music roll. The L features a 54-note piano with mandolin attachment. The instrument is in excellent playing “maintained” condition (original strings and possibly piano action). All original components except cash box, which has been replaced. The cabinet features the original art glass with tune card holder.

After entertaining patrons of the Miles Mountain Musical Museum in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, it was sold in 1997 and sent to Dave Ramey’s piano shop to ready it for the current owner in 2000. After recently returning to D.C. Ramey Piano Company for reconditioning again, it’s ready to delight a new owner. Cabinet measures 53 inches tall, by 37 inches wide, by 24 inches deep. Sale includes three re-cut Style "A" music rolls.
